Thomas, Kayden, Horstemeyer & Risley

In, 1997, Thomas, Kayden, Horstemeyer and Risley needed a new technology infrastructure consisting of 25 computers. Lan-Tech was able to implement the infrastructure with all the functions needed at a lower cost than any other competitor.

As time went by, the firm began to grow. Along with the growth of the firm, the technology demands grew. Lan-Tech was able to design the technology infrastructure to keep pace with the firm's needs and still keep it simple to manage.

Today, the firm has two offices: one in Atlanta, Georgia and the other in Huntsville, Alabama. Together, these offices total 100+ nodes. The satellite office uses Citrix Metaframe to connect back to the main office. The Citrix also accomodates users with home-offices.

The network is designed to accommodate growth in users and storage needs along with providing services for clients. The new client portal allows clients to gain access to documents and calendar information in a secure manner.

Unlike most firms of this size which are forced to hire one or more persons full time to support the IT demands, Lan-Tech is able to support the needs of the firm in a fraction of the time. The firm, by outsourcing the IT services to Lan-Tech has saved money by reducing overhead in personnel without sacrificing support.

Jeff Kuester, IT committee chairperson, says “Lan-Tech's knowledge of technology and our law firm's needs allows us to focus on the practice of law while maximizing technology. We have a technology infrastructure creating a more profitable law practice while keeping legal fees down to the benefit of our clients.”

After the Blaster Worm impacted many network systems, Scott Horstemeyer, managing partner said "On behalf of the firm, I would like to commend Lan-Tech, particularly Je Ae, for being out in front of this computer worm problem and preventing the worm from attacking our firm's computer system. Many law firms were hit by this worm. Je Ae came in over a weekend prior to the release of the worm to install the requisite patch to protect our firm's computer system, and for this effort, we thank her. Also, we should be thankful that we have one of the best computer support firms in terms of technical expertise in Atlanta.
